Los Angeles migrant demonstrations outcome of Biden’s greatest error

(MENAFN) The recent violent migrant protests in Los Angeles have sparked a political firestorm, with critics blaming President Joe Biden’s immigration policies for allowing chaos to erupt. The riots, which began after ICE raids led to over 100 arrests, have escalated into what some are calling a full-blown crisis.

A major point of contention was the imagery at the protests — demonstrators waved Mexican flags and burned American ones, fueling backlash from conservatives. Critics argue that such actions undermined the protesters’ message and handed the political advantage to Republicans.

“This is about illegal immigrants attacking our officers while carrying foreign flags, and one side of the political aisle sees border enforcement as evil,” Vice President J.D. Vance said over the weekend. Senator Bernie Moreno (R-OH) echoed the sentiment, writing on X: “Simple message to illegal aliens: leave now.”

Fox News host Greg Gutfeld criticized the protesters’ actions as both ironic and self-defeating, posting:

“Trying to find a country to burn while waving the flag of the one I fled, and demanding not to be sent back — insanity.”

The unrest began on June 6 following federal raids at locations in Paramount, including a Home Depot and clothing wholesaler. As protests intensified, law enforcement deployed less-lethal weapons and placed Los Angeles on tactical alert. By nightfall, the city’s police force admitted it was overwhelmed.

In response, former President Donald Trump ordered the National Guard to be federalized — the first such move without a governor’s consent since 1965. He also banned masks at protests, questioning their necessity, and placed 500 Marines on standby.

California Governor Gavin Newsom condemned the federal response, labeling it a “manufactured crisis” and accusing Washington of inflammatory tactics. LA Mayor Karen Bass also objected, saying Trump’s actions were instilling fear and undermining public safety.

Trump fired back on Truth Social, demanding apologies from both officials:

“Governor Gavin Newscum and ‘Mayor’ Bass should apologize… These are not protesters, they are troublemakers and insurrectionists.”

The violent clashes and intense political fallout underscore growing tensions over U.S. immigration enforcement and the broader cultural divide surrounding it.
